- to know more of God
- Most people have some awareness of God. Our aim is
to encourage everyone to explore and to deepen our
understanding of God, beginning from what we know, or
think we know, now.
- to experience more of God
- Knowledge of God is a good start, but we believe
we need more than understanding. We believe in a God
who can be experienced, in many different ways. Our
aim is to explore our experiences of God, together,
and to encourage one another to experience more of God
in a deeper way day by day.
- to love each other
- Our knowledge and experience of God mean nothing
unless they begin to work themselves out in our daily
lives. We aim to show our relationship with God in the
way we love one another - in the fellowship of the
Church family, because we are all brothers and sisters
in God.
- to serve each other
- Loving one another means serving one another in
practical ways. This means thinking of others before
ourselves, putting ourselves out for others. We are
not perfect (far from it)! But we do have something to
aim at.
- in the community
- Our loving and caring must not be limited to the
Church community. That would be selfish, and would not
reflect the God who gives himself for the whole world.
Our loving and care is to be excercised in and among
the wider community - both locally (where we live,
work, spend our leisure time, etc.) and more widely
(in our Diocese, nationally, globally). All our love
and care is done not in our own strength, but in the
strength God supplies.
